Scientific Project Lead

Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a bridge between the executive team and scientific teams

  • Plan the scientific projects and manage the project deadlines, milestones and the scientific teams

  • Budgeting for the projects

  • Report progress, needs and issues to the executive team

  • Represent the company in international conferences (willingness to travel for work is essential)

  • Represent the company to the largest enterprise customers

  • Guide the scientific development of the products based on latest publications and feedback from Finnadvance Customer Success

  • Position is based in Oulu, Finland

Desired Skills

  • A great and flexible attitude suitable for startup (things can change fast and delivering results is essential)

  • strong expertise in cell biology, 3D cell culture models, imaging techniques, evidence of hands-on experience in cell culture 

  • skills for leading internal development of FA products and services with the CEO

  • project management skills: can manage R&D projects, including resource allocation, schedules, and budgets

  • people leadership, experience in supervising team 

  • excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (also online)

  • can communicate scientific concepts to a wide audience (internal and external)

  • understands the importance of good science visualization in reports, presentations, posters, publications 

  • knows scientific writing: publications, funding applications

  • familiar with research and R&D funding instruments (Finnish, EU, or Business Finland, maybe also some other)

Background:

  • PhD in the relevant field: life sciences, medical or biomedical sciences, bioengineering, or cell biology with a research career, preferred therapeutic area in oncology, respiratory or neuronal/brain diseases

  • OR MSc in biomedicine, bioengineering, or cell biology and 5+ years of working experience in (relevant international) biotech industry R&D

Research Scientist

Job Responsibilities

  • Development of new tissue model platforms and validation of existing models for different applications

  • Planning and executing customer projects 

  • Working as a part of team in a fast-paced R&D environment

  • Creating customer protocols and communicating with current/prospective customers

  • Presenting research and the products at e.g., conferences, symposia, etc.

  • Position is based in Oulu, Finland

Desired Skills

  • PhD degree from relevant field of study (biochemistry, biotechnology, biology, etc) or MSc degree with minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience

  • Recent, strong experience from mammalian tissue culture

  • Be part a team player but take ownership of your own work as well

  • Capability to conduct research projects independently after initial orientation to the work

  • Good communication skills in English, written and spoken

  • Problem solving skills and proactive experimentation planning skills

  • Basic Microsoft Office package use (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc)

  • Previous experience from working with microfluidic platforms

  • Good skills in microscopy (e.g., confocal and fluorescence microscopy)

Production Engineer

  • Development of microfluidic devices together with the team

  • Development of Organ-on-Chip platforms together with the team

  • Optimization of production processes to scale up and automate production

Desired Skills

  • MSc or PhD in engineering or bioengineering background (Ie. Biomedical, electrical, mechanical, computer science)

Internship in South Korean Market Entry

Job Responsibilities

  • Help our sales to establish first contact with South Korean companies

  • Help our sales with administrative tasks

  • Offer your fresh view on the sales & business development

  • Position can be based in Helsinki Finland, Remote or Hybrid

  • Timing of the internship can be flexible

  • The internship position is paid position with salary negotiated depending on the experience level of the applicant

  • Position is fixed term of 1-3 months and can be flexibly consisting of full-time and part-time work

Desired Skills

  • BSc/MSc Student in relevant field (e.g. Internatonal Business, Life Sciences, Technology, etc.)

  • Fluent English and Korean languages both spoken and written

  • Have some background in Biology, Molecular Biosciences, Pharmacology, Life Science or Biotechnology to understand the context and communicate both internally and externally
